Places to Wander

Paris is a walkers and runners city. If you did nothing more than roam the streets without purpose or direction for a week, you would still come away deeply rewarded. There are sites of extreme beauty, architectural wonder, and sculpting brilliance all around you.

If you are like me, you will also be awed that a city could have been so wealthy, at a particular time in history, to have been able to invest in such detailed and extravagant buildings and monuments.

It's truly mind boggling how beautiful the city is, and how free it has been kept of unnecessary neon lights and advertising billboards. Thus, allowing it to showcase the outstanding artisans and tradespeople of the past.

The gardens by contrast are fairly restrained and orderly, with wide stoney paths that invite runners and walkers alike. They are however large and mostly flat, so allow you to pad out the km's if that's what your after. Just note, public toilets and drinking fountains are not common, so make sure you are not in need.
